refractive
    refractive error
A defect in the eye that prevents light rays from being brought to a single focus exactly on the retina.
    refractive index
    1. Отношение скорости распространения света в материале к скорости распространения света в вакууме

    2. A measure of the reduction in the velocity of light in a medium

    3. The speed of light in a vacuum divided by the speed of light in a material, abbreviated n, which measures how materials refract light.

    4. A ratio between the velocity of light in air and that of light through a particular substance. the index of air is 1.00 and indices are referred to the index of air, i.e. the index of water being 1.33 means that the spead of light in air is 1.33 times greater as the speed of light in water.

    5. Index of refraction

    6. A measure of the magnitude of slowing of light waves by a particular medium

    7. (astm d-1218) number indicating the angle through which a ray of light is deflected as it passes through a solid or fluid medium; the number that expresses the ratio of the sine of the angle of incidence to the sine of the angle of refraction. typically used for monitoring water-based fluids or solutions.

    8. Ratio of the speed of the incident wave to that of a refracted wave. it is known as the refractive index of the second medium with respect to the first. glossary 19.17

    9. Dimensionless ratio of the speed of the incident wave to that of a refracted wave. it helps describe how mechanical or electromagnetic waves change direction as they propagate through dissimilar materials.

    10. Ratio of the speed of the incident wave to that of a refracted wave. it is known as the refractive index of the second medium with respect to the first.7
    refractive index (ut)
The ratio of the velocity of a wave in one medium to the velocity of the wave in a second medium is the refractive index of the second medium with respect to the first. it is a measure of the amount a wave will be refracted when it enters the second medium after leaving the first.
refractive index or index of refraction
The refractive index determines how much light is bent, or refracted, when entering a material.
    refractive power
A lens’ ability to bend parallel light rays into focus, as measured by power diopters.
    refractive-index gradient
The change of refractive index with distance from the axis of an optical fiber. also called refractive index profile.
