(andalucian arabic) al-mana:kh, of uncertain origin

English Words from Arabic

    Almanac, английский
    1. A record of the days, feasts, and celestial phenomena of the year. though confounded with calendar, it is essentially different—the latter relating to time in general, and the almanac to that of a year; but the term calendar can be properly used for a particular year. (see ephemeris.)

    2. An annual publication containing lists, charts, tables, and other information for navigators. some, such as the british hm nautical almanac cover only astronomical data for ocean navigation with a sextant. others, such as the american reed’s nautical almanac include additional information about tides, tidal currents, sunrises, sunsets, and other critical items.

    Amber, английский
    1. Янтарного цвета, желтый

    2. Amber is a term used to describe a heavy, full-bodied, warm fragrance.

    3. Желтый (сигнальный огонь)

    4. A hard resinous substance of vegetable origin, generally of a bright yellow colour, and translucent. it is chiefly obtained from the southern shores of the baltic, and those of sicily, where it is thrown up by the sea, but it also occurs in beds of lignite.

    5. Янтарный оттенок bientрассеянный

    6. Since ambergris is extremely rare, the next best thing in perfumery is amber. amber is a chemically derived accord designed to mimic the scent of ambergris. made of benzoin, a vanilla like oil from a styrax benzoin tree, labdanum resin which has a woody scent and just a little bit of vanilla to mimic that sweet, mellow soft warmth that drives perfumers crazy. today 99% of the perfumes contain amber, and the two terms are used interchangeably.

    7. A fragrance accord designed to impart fullness, sweetness and warmth to a compound. enhances the dry down of the fragrance and is of particular importance to the oriental type fragrance.

    8. Желтый сигнал светофора
