Axle load

  1. The gross load of a vehicle divided equally by the number of axles. axle loads permitted relate to vehicle speed, track design and condition. uneven distribution of loading in vehicles causes exceedence of permissible axle loads leading to vehicle and track damage and the possibility of derailments.

  2. The weight limit applied to trains passing over a line by the railway civil engineer. it is the limit allowed to be applied to any one axle on the train. always the bane of the life of a rolling stock designer. axle load refers to the maximum weight permitted on a single axle. a four-axle vehicle weighing 60 t (metric tonnes) would have an axle load of approximately 15 t depending on how the weight was distributed. in the uk the maximum axle load is 20 t on most main lines. the european maximum is 22.5 t.

Axle, английский
The circular shaft connecting two wheels to form a `wheelset` (q.v.). the wheels are an interference fit to ensure the gauge is maintained. wheels are removed by forcing them off after injecting oil under high pressure into the wheel hub through a specially designed aperture drilled in the hub.

Axle base, английский

Axle bearing, английский
Any bearing that supports an axle or half shaft,

Axle box, английский

Axle brush, английский
Axle mounted contact used to provide a return path for power circuits on electric vehicles. nowadays normally mounted on the axle end as part of the axlebox assembly.

Axle camber, английский
Wheel camber achieved in a beam dead axle by convex curvature of the axle, axle casing (us

Axle counter, английский
  1. A device for detecting the presence of a train, or verifying a signal section is clear by counting the number of axles passing a given point in either direction.

  2. Track mounted equipment which counts the number of axles entering and leaving a track section at each extremity; a calculation is performed to determine whether the track is occupied or clear.

Axle counter, английский
A system that detects the presence of a train by counting the passage of wheels that have entered and left a particular track section.

Axle counter, английский
Equipment used in rail vehicle detection territory to count axles entering and leaving a section and indicate whether that section is occupied.

Axle counter territory, английский
The portions of line where axle counters are used for the rail vehicle detection system of safeworking.

Axle guard; axle box guard, английский

Axle housing, английский
    See axle casing.

Axle lift, английский
Mechanism for raising and lowering a lift axle of a commercial vehicle,

Axle pulley, английский

Axle shaft, английский
  1. See axle.

  2. On front-wheel drive vehicles, the shafts that connect the transaxle to the driven wheels. axle shafts are also used on some rear-wheel drive vehicles with independent suspensions to connect the differential assembly to the driven wheels. axle shafts commonly have a universal joint at each end

Axle side shake, английский
Lateral oscillatory motion of an axle of a moving vehicle.

Axle sleeve, английский
Tubular casing of a live or dead axle shaft.

Axle spindle, английский
Shaft machined to carry wheel bearings and seals and with means for securing the wheel to the axle. axle tramp (1) form of wheel hop on live axles in which the left and right hand wheels hop in opposite phase. (2) resonant oscillation of an axle

Axle weight, английский
Static weight imposed on the highway by one axle. axle wind

Axlebox, английский
The housing attaching the axle end to the bogie which contains the bearing allowing the axle to rotate.

Distribution, английский
  1. Распределение. размещение.

  2. Распределение - рыночный процесс, при котором крупные рыночные трейдеры в основном продают бумаги мелким трейдерам;

  3. The distribution of a set of numerical data is how their values are distributed over the real numbers. it is completely characterized by the empirical distribution function. similarly, the probability distribution of a random variable is completely characterized by its probability distribution function. sometimes the word "distribution" is used as a synonym for the empirical distribution function or the probability distribution function. if two or more random variables are defined for the same experiment, they have a joint probability distribution.

  4. Refers to the spread and shape of a frequency curve of some variable. a histogram is one way to graphically display the distribution of test results by showing the frequency of observations on the y-axis versus the magnitude on the x-axis. the normal or gaussian curve is one form of a distribution.

  10. Распределение dna (deoxyribonucleic acid)

  11. Распределение. 1.

  14. Распределение; размещение; распространение; разводка (труб) ~ of bending stresses over the cross

  16. The delivery of electricity to the retail customer’s home or business through low voltage distribution lines.

  17. The spatial range of a species, usually on a geographic but sometimes on a smaller scale, or the arrangement or spatial pattern of a species over its habitat. • food resources will lead to this distribution. d. over space: • altitude: species diversity less abundant in higher than lower altitudes. • latitude: ecosystems are more complex in equatorial regions than in higher latitudes (poles) • scale: the greater the sample the better interpretability. • spatial: • aggregated or clump d.: individuals form one or more clumps, attracted to areas with the greatest availability of food or shelter and avoiding less hospitable terrain. • random d.: individual spacing would be determined by chance. • regular or uniform spacing d.: individuals may also be drawn together by some social interaction, such as mating or parental care. in other cases, antagonistic interactions between individuals or scarce d. over time: • habitat: (see there). • succession (see there).
