Squall

  1. A sudden, violent wind often accompanied by rain.

  2. Шквал

  3. A fast moving short intense storm.

  4. A sudden gust of wind, frequently occasioned by the interruption and reverberation of the wind from high mountains. these are very frequent in the mediterranean, particularly in the levant.— a black squall. one attended with a dark cloud and generally heavy rain.—a white squall. this furious and dangerous gust occurs in clear weather, without any other warning than the white foam it occasions on the surface of the sea, and a very thin haze. when this squall reaches a ship, copious rain attends it. it is very destructive to the flying-kite school, and many lives have been sacrificed by it.

  5. A sudden localized violent wind gust, often accompanied by rain, sleet, or thunder.

  6. A sudden intense wind storm of short duration, often accompanied by rain. squalls often accompany an advancing cold front.

  7. Шквал. атмосферное явление, характеризующееся резкими колебаниями скорости ветра. он начинается неожиданно, длится всего несколько минут, а затем скорость ветра также резко снижается. шквал часто сопровождается ливнем и грозой (вмо).

Reverberation, английский
  1. The persistent echoing of sound within an enclosure after the original source of the sound has stopped, due to repeated reflection between the enclosing surfaces

  2. The persistence of sound in an enclosed space (such as a room or auditorium) after a source of sound has stopped.

  3. Реверберация

  4. Often shortened to `reverb`, the persistence of sound in a room or other space, even after the original sound has ended, caused by many sound reflections that decrease in intensity with time. the reflections, or echoes, are so closely spaced in time as to merge into a single continuous sound. the reflected sound eventually decays completely by being absorbed into the surfaces of the room. reverberation in modern recordings is commonly generated by signal processors, rather than acoustically.
