- (нем . zement), собирательное название порошкообразных вяжущих веществ (преимущественно гидравлических), способных при смешивании с водой (иногда с водными растворами солей) образовывать пластичную массу, преобретающую затем камневидное состояние. основные виды: портландцемент, шлаковые и пуццолановые цементы, глиноземистый цемент, специальные виды цемента (напр., кислотоупорный). промышленное производство с 19 в.
- Гидравлическое вяжущее из серии неорганических — добавка в сухие строительные смеси, выглядящая как мелкодисперсный порошок в большинстве случаев серо-зеленого цвета. перемешанная с водой смесь цемента и наполнителя по истечении определенного промежутка времени застывает, превращаясь в прочный монолит, выдерживающий значительные нагрузки сжатия. если в смесь в качестве наполнителя добавляют гравий, керамзит, щебень, в результате получается бетон.
