- For bicycles with suspensions, a device that limits the rate at which suspension rebounds after absorbing an impact.

- Suspension component that damps spring oscillations. shock absorbers work by forcing a fluid through calibrated orifices that limit the rate of movement. some designs place the fluid under gas pressure to prevent or reduce fluid foaming which can greatly reduce efficiency.
