Shank, английский
- To badly hit a ball. example man - you shanked it way to the right!
- An arrangement of deep-water fishing lines. also, a handle or shaft. also the bar or shaft of an anchor, constituting its main piece, at one end of which the stock is fixed, and at the other the arms.
- That part of an instrument, tool, or other thing, which connects the working part with a handle, or other part by which it is held or moved. hence: [1] an anchor shank is the long straight bar that connects the transverse bar called a stock with the crown, from which flukes branch out at a suitable angle to enter the ground. [2] a rudder shank is a long bar fastened on one side to the rudder blade and on the other to the sternpost of the vessel in such a way that it can be turned from side to side in the water by means of a tiller, wheel, or other steering mechanism.
- The steel-threaded portion of a diamond bit to which the crown is attached. also called bit blank, blank, blank bit.
- The body portion of any bit above its cutting edge.
