Schwellen

    Swell, английский
    1. Hinchazón, bulto

    2. Волна, волнение, усиление

    3. A rolling wave which seldom breaks unless it meets resistance, generally denoting a continuous heaving, which remains for some time after the wind which caused it has subsided. also, the gradual thickening of the muzzle of a gun, hounds of a mast, &c.

    4. Long unbroken heaves of the sea due to wind-generated waves that have advanced into calmer waters and acquired a more rounded form. because of their length, swell waves do not break. the stronger the winds at the source area, the bigger will be the swell and the further will it travel; and the longer the wind blows in the source area, the longer will the swell persist, even long after the wind has ceased or changed direction. experienced watch officers often report trains of swell waves, of differing periods and amplitudes, arriving simultaneously from two or even three directions.

    5. Large smooth waves that do not break. swells are formed by wind action over a long distance.

    6. Постепенное нарастание и ослабление звука
