Watts (w)

Fiber Optic Glossary
A linear measure of optical power, usually expressed in milliwatts (mw), microwatts (?w), or nanowatts (nw)

Watt, английский
  1. Basic unit of power. the formula is voltage multiplied by the current, or v x amps.

  2. A unit of power that equals one joule per second, named after the scottish inventor and mechanical engineer, james watt

  3. A unit of electrical energy or power; one ampere x one volt = one watt.

  4. Ватт

  5. A unit of power (equivalent to one joule per second) used to express laser power.

  6. A unit of power; the power required to do work at the rate of 1 joule per second, which is equal to the power dissipated in an electric circuit in which a potential difference of 1 volt causes a current of 1 ampere to flow. watt-hour a unit of work equal to 3,600 joules; equivalent to the power of 1 watt operating for a period of 1 hour. watt-hour meter an electricity meter which measures and registers the active power in an electric circuit with respect to time.

  7. The unit of measure for electric power or rate of doing work. the rate of energy transfer equivalent to one ampere flowing under pressure of one volt.

  8. The rate of energy transfer equivalent to one ampere under an electrical pressure of one volt. one watt equals 1/746 horsepower, or one joule per second. it is the product of voltage and current (amperage).

  9. An si unit of power equal to one joule per second.

Watt (w), английский
  1. A measurement of power or the rate at which electrons move along a wire. tip: different types and makes of fixtures using the same wattage lamps when tested at the same distance will have considerable variations in light output. performance charts may be helpful; an incident light meter definitely will be. watt/seconds, w/s, joule, j (flash) the electrical current stored within the capacitors of electronic flash units, only part of which reaches the flash tube and none of which can be compared with the real or claimed watt/second ratings of other units. joule is the british equivalent. flash maven jon falk suggests that skepticism and flash meters are in order.

  2. A measurement of power, commonly used to define the rate at which an appliance consumes energy. watt-hour (whr): a measurement of power with respect to time (energy). one watt-hour is equal to one watt being used for a period of one hour.

  3. Unit of power, or rate of work, equal to one joule per second, or the rate of work represented by a current of one ampere under the potential of one volt. (nfpa 3.3.164).

Watt - hour meter, английский

Watt consumption, английский

Watt density, английский
Amount of watts concentrated per square inch of element rod surface area.

Watt meter, английский
    Ваттметр

Watt-hour, английский
    Ватт-час

Watt-second, английский

Watt/cm2, английский
A unit of irradiance used in measuring the amount of power per area of absorbing surface, or per area of cw laser beam.

Watt/watts, английский
Electrical power, also expressed as `w`. for example, a 100w globe consumes 100 watts of electrical power. the w in watt is always uppercased, because it is named after a person.

Wattage, английский

Watteau-falte, немецкий
Nach dem franz. rokokomaler antoine watteau benannte tiefe faltenpartie, die nur am rückenansatz eingelegt wird und ungebügelt lose nach unten fällt

Wattle, английский
A framework of interwoven rods, poles, or branches. wattle-and-daub a primitive form of wall construction consisting of upright wood poles with branches interwoven between them (wattle) that are then covered with plaster mixed with wattle-and-daub 1061 water table, 1

Wattle and daub., английский

Wattle and daub. rabbet, rebate 1. a longitudinal channel, groove, or recess cut out of the edge or face of a member; esp. one to receive another member, or one to receive a frame inserted in a door or window opening, or the recess into which glass is ins, английский

Loose tube gel filled (ltgf), английский
A loose tube cable structure with buffer tubes filled with gel to restrict moisture intrusion. mostly replaced with “dry” techniques, it is still used in areas of extreme low temperatures

Multilongitudinal mode (mlm) laser, английский
  1. A laser, usually fabry-perot, that has a measured spectral width specified by the maximum root mean square of the spectral distribution (side modes), limited to no more than 20 db down from the peak mode

  2. An injection laser diode which has a number of longitudinal modes.
