Pincushion distortion

Lens Glossary
  1. An optical distortion, common in less expensive lenses, where parallel lines on the horizontal or vertical plane bow inward. pincushion distortion is the opposite of barrel distortion.

  2. Подушкообразная или положительная дисторсия (дисторсия, связанная с увеличением изображения у краев поля, большим, чем в центре поля)

Distort, английский

Distorted crystal, английский

Distorted field (mt), английский
The direction of a magnetic field in a symmetrical object will be substantially uniform if produced by a uniformly applied magnetizing force, as in the case of a bar magnetized in a solenoid. but if the piece being magnetized is irregular in shape, the field is distorted and does not follow a straight path or have a uniform distribution.

Distortion, английский
  1. A drying defect caused by the differential shrinkage along the three axes of a piece of wood. distortion may take the form of cup, bow, twist, spring or diamonding.

  2. Искажение, дисторсия

  3. The deviation of the received signal waveform from that of the original transmitted waveform.

  4. Nonproportional representation of an original.

  5. Искажение (формы); коробление

  6. Нарушение достоверности информации, см. bias; error, deviation, misreporting запасы (сырья и материалов), см. stocks with industrial consumers; reserves for manufacturing purposes al consumers; reserves for manufacturing purposes 61,. distributed stocks (of raw materials) — производственные запасы (сырья и материалов), см. stocks with industrial consumers; reserves for manufacturing purposes.

  7. An undesired change in wave form of a signal in the course of its passage through a transmission system.

  8. An off-axis lens aberration that changes the geometric shape of the image due to a variation of focal length as a function of field angle.

  9. Any changing of line, form, or even light by photographic materials, such as lenses, films, or filters. though most designers do all they can to eliminate distortion from lenses, most photographers take the "if you can`t beat `em, join `em" approach and exploit it wherever they find it; they use distortion as part of their visual expression.

  10. An aberration which occurs as light rays move from the center of the lens toward the periphery. as rays approach the edge, the lens’s increasing magnification causes a distorting of the image.

  11. The act of twisting part of the body out of its usual shape

  12. Искажение

  13. N псхл. искажение

  14. Расхождение; несовпадение; искажение; искривление

  15. An intentional desired, or unintentional unwanted, change in the audio waveform, causing a raspy or edgy sound quality.

  16. Changing incoming information in some way.

Distortion, английский

Distortion (lens), английский
An optical aberration of a lens. extreme example: a fish-eye lens. the term is often misused to describe the exaggerated perspective effect of any lens when used too close to a subject, resulting in big-nose-small-ears syndrome.*

Distortion (of facts), английский

Distortion (искажение), английский
    Непропорциональное представление оригинала.

Distortion analyzer, английский

Horizontal, английский
  1. Горизонталь; горизонтальный

  2. Горизонталь; горизонтальный 287

  3. At right angles to the direction of gravity; on the level; parallel to the horizon; neither vertical nor inclined.

  4. A direction parallel to the horizon, or what is commonly termed lying flat. one of the greatest inconveniences navigators have to struggle with is the frequent want of a distinct sight of the horizon. to obviate this a horizontal spinning speculum was adopted by mr. lerson, who was lost in the victory man-of-war, in which ship he was sent out to make trial of his instrument. this was afterwards improved by smeaton, and consists of a well-polished metal speculum about 3-1/2 inches in diameter, inclosed within a circular rim of brass, so fitted that the centre of gravity of the whole shall fall near the point on which it spins. this is the end of a steel axis running through the centre of the speculum, above which it finishes in a square for the convenience of fitting a

Aps-h (apsh), английский
Aps-h format imaging sensors (1.3x) are smaller than full-frame (24 x 36mm) imaging sensors but larger than aps-c (1.5x) imaging sensors. although currently only available in canon’s high-speed 1d series (not 1ds) cameras, aps-h format sensors were also used in leica’s first digital rangefinder, the m8, as well as leica’s short-lived add-on digital back for the now-discontinued leica r reflex camera system.

Awb (auto white balance), английский
An in-camera function that automatically adjusts the chromatic balance of the scene to a neutral setting, regardless of the color characteristics of the ambient light source. for more on this subject, see white balance, below, as well as this explora article, “understanding white balance and color temperature in digital images.”
