Backbone system

Fiber Optic Glossary
A transmission network that carries high-speed telecommunications between regions (e.g., a nationwide long-distance telephone system). sometimes used to describe the part of a local area network that carries signals between branching points.

Backbone, английский

  6. A high-speed network that connects several powerful computers. in the u.s., the backbone of the internet is often the nsfnet, a government funded link between a handful of supercomputer sites across the country.

  7. The cabling used to connect entrance facilities, crossconnects, telecommunications closets, and equipment rooms. the backbone may consist of either interbuilding and/or intrabuilding cabling

  8. A transmission network that carries high speed telecommunications between locations. this is normally the main portion of a telecommunication network, with branches going to individual buildings. in a local area network, this is usually the link between routers, switches, and bridges.

  9. Espinazo, columna vertebral

  10. A series of bones, the vertebrae, linked together to form a flexible column running from the pelvis to the skull. also called rachis, spine background carboxyhaemoglobin level background carboxyhaemoglobin level /bk&ra?nd k? b?ksi hi m? &l??b?n lev(?)l/

Backbone microwave system, английский
A series of directional microwave paths carrying common information to be relayed between remote points. the backbone microwave system is engineered to allow the insertion of signals, the dropping off of signals and the switching of signals along its length at designated relay points. in order to maintain the signals in the highest possible quality, the equipment used in the backbone microwave system is normally of a higher technical performance level than other microwave electronics in the network. antennas are always directional.

Backbone network, английский
  1. Общий термин для обозначения совокупности базовых узлов распределенной сети, соединенных высокоскоростными магистральными каналами (trunk). сегменты сети масштаба предприятия и отдельные станции подключаются к магистральной сети через мосты, маршрутизатор

Backbone router, английский
  1. Маршрутизатор базовых сетей; магистральный маршрутизатор

  2. In open shortest path first (ospf), a router that is connected to the backbone area. this includes routers that are connected to more than one area (area border routers (abrs)). however, backbone routers do not have to be abrs. routers that have all networks connected to the backbone are internal routers.

  6. One of two parts of the autonomic nervous system. its messages reach the organs of the body through the cranial and sacral nerves to the eyes, the gastrointestinal system and other organs. sympathetic nervous system comment: the parasympathetic nervous system acts in opposition to the sympathetic nervous system, slowing down the action of the heart, reducing blood pressure and increasing the rate of digestion.
