- A probabilistic model is a model that allows you to compute the probability of every well-formed proposition that can be formed from the elementary propositions in the model. probabilistic neural network (pnn) a neural network, suggested by donald specht, that uses the training cases as hidden units. input cases are then compared to each hidden unit and the unit fires (returns a one) if the input is "close enough." the distance between the normalized input and each case is typically measure using a radial basis function (rbf), such as a gaussian distribution. the distance is measured with respect to a bandwidth or smoothing parameter, usually univariate. the technique is equivalent to the statistical technique of kernel discriminant analysis. probabilities expert systems knowledge and inference (peski) peski is a new generic expert systems shell. it is freely available as an inference engine, knowledge base acquisition, verification and validation, and data mining tools. the objective is to merge probability theory and expert systems. see also: http://www.afit.af.mil/schools/en/eng/labs/ai/research/peski3.html
