- The energy imparted by ionizing radiation per unit mass of irradiated material. the units of absorbed dose are the rad and the gray (gy).
- Amount of energy imparted to matter by an ionizing event per unit mass of irradiated material at the place of interest. absorbed dose is expressed in gray (gy) or rad.
