Half-life (rt)

Глоссарий терминов по технологиям неразрушающего контроля (NDT)
The time in which half the atoms in a radioactive substance disintegrate. half-lives vary from millionths of a second to billions of years.

Half-life, английский
  1. Half-life is closely related to the property of radioactive decay and represents the time taken for half the atoms in a radioactive substances to undergo decay and change into another nuclear form (either a radioactive daughter product or a stable form).

  2. 1. a measurement of the period of time taken before the concentration of a drug has reached half of what it was when it was administered 2. the time taken for half the atoms in a radioactive isotope to decay

  3. The point in the life of a mortgage-backed security guaranteed or issued by the government national mortgage association, the federal national mortgage association or the federal home loan mortgage corporation when half the principal has been repaid.

Half-life (biological), английский
  1. The biological half-life is the time taken for half of a radioactive material, (present in a body as a result of inhalation , ingestion , injection or absorption ), to be eliminated by the biological processes in that body.

  2. The time required for a biological system, such as a man or an animal, to eliminate, by natural processes, half the amount of a substance that has entered it.

Half-life (t?), английский
The time it takes for half the original amount of a substance to disappear. in the environment, the half-life is the time it takes for half the original amount of a substance to disappear when it is changed to another chemical by bacteria, fungi, sunlight, or other chemical processes. in the human body, the half-life is the time it takes for half the original amount of the substance to disappear, either by being changed to another substance or by leaving the body. in the case of radioactive material, the half life is the amount of time necessary for one half the initial number of radioactive atoms to change or transform into another atom (that is normally not radioactive). after two half lives, 25% of the original number of radioactive atoms remain.

Half-life period, английский

Radioactive, английский
  1. Radioactive can generally describe the property of a substance (or more accurately atomic nuclei) which are unstable and spontaneously decay (disintegrate) with the release of energy, the energy being either electromagnetic radiation , particulate or both

  2. Радиоактивный

  3. Generally, the property possessed by certain elements, such as uranium minerals, of spontaneously emitting alpha, teta, and/or gamma rays by the disintegration of the nuclei of their atoms.

  4. Atoms that are energetically unstable and decay to a stable condition by emitting radiation are said to be radioactive.

Disintegrate, английский

Clearing time (rt), английский
The time required for the first stage of fixing during which the whiteness (opaqueness) of the film disappears.

Drying time (pt), английский
The time during which a washed or wet-developed part is in the hot air drying oven.
