- A unit of energy per unit area, equal to 1 gramcalorie/cm² and commonly employed in radiation measurement.
- The unit of solar energy relating to the amount which reaches a specific area of the earth`s surface. in general, more "langleys" reach the surface of the earth at the equator than at the poles.

Measurement, английский
- Set of operations having the object of determining a value of a quantity (1)
- The size, length, etc. of something which has been measured
- The process of ascertaining the attributes, dimensions, extent, quantity, degree or capacity of some object of observation and representing these in the qualitative or quantitative terms of a data language. any empirical pursuit that places the observer outside his object of observation must consider measurement the fundamental process through which scientific constructs or models are linked to reality (->index, ->symptom). otherwise measurement is only one section in a circular process of computing a stable form. the traditional levels of measurement are nominal, ordinal, interval and ratio scales.
- The magnitude of the property of an object calibrated against one or more units of measure.

Lidar, английский
- Light detecting and ranging. a technique used to detect atmospheric constituents or related parameters such as atmospheric extinction coefficient. light is produced in a modulated source and the resulting backscattered or reflected light is analyzed to qu
- Laser intensity direction and ranging

Koschmieder's law, английский
A basic equation in daytime visual range theory, relating the apparent luminance of a distant black object, the apparent luminance of the background-sky above the horizon, and the extinction coefficient of the atmosphere.
