Passing-bablock regression

Глоссарий по стандартизации, контролю и управлению качеством
An alternate regression calculation that can be employed when ordinary linear regression may not be reliable. this technique is non-parametric and therefore makes fewer assumptions about the nature of the data. it depends on calculating the slopes of all possible pairs of points, ranking those slopes, and selecting a median value. the correlation coefficient is used as a practical measure of when alternate regression techniques should be applied. when r is less than 0.99 or 0.975, depending on the source of the recommendation, deming regression or passing- bablock regression should be used instead of ordinary linear regression.

  2. Регрессия

  3. 1. a stage where symptoms of a disease are disappearing and the person is getting better 2. (in psychiatry) the process of returning to a mental state which existed when the person was younger

  4. Regression commonly refers to the process of developing an empirical (data-driven) model to predict and/or explain one or more attributes in a database or set of data. it is most frequently associated with the simple linear model (y=mx+b) taught in most introductory statistics courses; the same ideas have been extended in many directions, including classification problems. when the emphasis is on hypothesis testing and simple models, the regression output is typically a few parameters that provide a direct linkage from the input variables to the predicted variables (or classification). in other situations the emphasis is on explaining as much of the variability in the output variables as is "reasonable" from the input variables. in this case, there are a number of "advanced" techniques, such as smoothing splines, decision trees, neural nets, and so forth, for which there are many "free" parameters. the meaning of any one of these parameters can be obscure. many data mining techniques are, at their core, variations on well-known regression techniques. see also: classification, clustering, decision trees, neural nets.

  5. The reappearance of a previously fixed problem.

  6. The statistical process of predicting one or more continuous variables, such as profit or loss, based on other attributes in the dataset.

  7. A mathematical technique used to explain and/or predict. the general form is y = a + bx + u, where y is the variable that we are trying to predict; x is the variable that we are using to predict y, a is the intercept; b is the slope, and u is the regression residual. the a and b are chosen in a way to minimize the squared sum of the residuals. the ability to fit or explain is measured by the r-square.

  8. A seaward retreat of a shoreline, generally expressed as a seaward

Regression analysis, английский

  3. A statistical technique that can be used to estimate relationships between variables.

  4. Statistical studies that attempt to explain changes in one variable (such as quantity demanded) in terms of changes (or differences) in other variables (such as price or income.).

Regression analysis tool, английский
A tool that performs linear regression analysis by using the least squares’ method to fit a line through a set of observations. a user can analyze how a single dependent variable is affected by the values of one or more independent variables.’

Regression equation, английский
  1. The equation for the line obtained in linear regression calculations (y = a + bx). this equation is used to calculate the amount of systematic error from the comparison of methods experiment. for a concentration where medical interpretation of the test value is critical (called a medical decision level, xc), the corresponding value by the test method can be calculated from the regression equation (yc = a + bxc). the amount of systematic error, se, is the difference between yc and xc.

  2. An equation that describes the average relationship between a dependent variable and a set of explanatory variables.

Regression fallacy, английский
The regression fallacy is to attribute the regression effect to an external cause.

Regression fallacy., английский
The regression fallacy is to attribute the regression effect to an external cause.

Regression line, английский
A straight line that represents the relationship between matched pairs of data from two collections of data. the equation of the line is derived using the leastsquares method of linear regression.

Regression method, английский

Regression methods, английский
Regression methods are used to generate functions that relate a set of input variables, often called independent variables, to some output variables, often called dependent variables. the function is typically referred to as a regression function. these techniques underlie many knowledge discovery in databases (kdd) and

Regression rate, английский

Regression statistics, английский
Used here to refer to the terms that are commonly calculated, i.e., the slope, y-intercept, and standard deviation about the regression line.

Regression tax, английский

Regression test, английский
A test that is run after the daily build to verify that compilation of source code has been built successfully.

Regression to the mean, английский

Regression toward the mean, английский
The tendency that a random variable will ultimately have a value closer to its mean value.

Correlation, английский
  1. A measure of linear association between two (ordered) lists. two variables can be strongly correlated without having any causal relationship, and two variables can have a causal relationship and yet be uncorrelated.

  2. Соотношение; корреляция

  3. N корреляция, соответ- ствие regular ~s закономерные соответствия

  4. Корреляция

  5. Correlation is a statistical measure of the association between two attributes or types of events. it typically ranges from -1 to 1, with a -1 indicating a complete negative association (e.g., if one type of event occurs the other cannot), and a +1 indicating a complete posipage 66 tive association. for continuous attributes, the pearson correlation coefficient is computed as the ratio of the covariance between two attributes to the product of the attributes` standard errors. see also: covariance.

  6. To correlate, in a stratigraphic sense, is to show correspondence in character and in stratigraphic position between geographically separated stratigraphic sections or rock bodies. there are different kinds of correlation depending on the feature or property to be emphasized (see section 3.a.9 and lithocorrelation, biocorrelation, and chronocorrelation). coset. a sedimentary unit made up o f two or more sets, either o f strata or o f cross-strata, separated from other strata or cross-strata by original flat surfaces o f erosion, nondeposition, or abrupt change in character (mckee and weir, 1953, p. 384).

  8. Statistical measure of the degree to which the movements of two variables (stock/option/convertible prices or returns) are related. see: correlation coefficient.

  9. The extent to which a relationship exists between two or more elements. often used in seo research to infer relationships of variables on search rankings due to the black box nature of algorithms. always remember, however, that correlation ≠ causation.

  2. Рабочая характеристика

Paired t-test, английский
A form of the t-test where the data consist of pairs of observations on one set of samples, either before and after experimental treatment, or by two different methods of measurement. this statistical test is often used in analyzing the data from a comparison of methods experiment. information about the systematic error is provided by the bias statistic; information about the random error between methods is provided by the standard deviation of the differences. these estimates will be reliable if proportional error is absent, or if the estimate of bias is only interpreted for a medical decision concentration that is close to the mean of the data. the t-value itself is a ratio of the systematic and random error terms and is useful only to assess whether sufficient data has been collected to conclude that a real difference exists. the t-value should not be interpreted as an indicator of method acceptability.
