Grid navigation

Словарь терминов и сокращений в авиации
  1. Навигация по координатной сетке

  2. A system, often used in polar waters and polar flying, in which grid coordinates on the chart replace latitude and longitude. a map projection is used in which north and south lie along the great circle which creates the 0° (greenwich) and 180° meridians, the latter being taken as grid north. hence any great circle course approximates a straight line and makes equal angles with all other lines on the grid. being independent of meridian convergence, a constant heading can be followed from departure to destination.
