Telecommunications Glossary
    A device that converts video frequency signals to audio frequencies and vice versa; used in freeze-frame video to transmit video signals over telephone lines.

A device for digitizing text, drawings or photographs - anything in paper form. it works like a photocopy machine, but instead of paper, the scanner converts the printed information into digital images. s are used with ocr (optical character recognition) technology, which takes the scanned pages of text and graphs and converts them into the individual letters and words that make up the text and the dots that make up the image, so that the text and images can be edited using a computer.
