Fairlead, английский
- A fitting that a line passes through to guide it in a particular direction.
- Device containing pulley wheels or rollers used so that the winch can pull in the cable from any direction without damage (26).
- A ring, hook or other device used to keep a line or chain running in the correct direction or to prevent it rubbing or fouling.
- A fitting that guides sheets and other lines in a way that reduces friction and therefore chafe
- A fitting through or over which a rope, line, or cable can be led so as to change direction. unlike a tackle, a fairlead provides no mechanical advantage.
