- Nickname for vicodin, a pain reliever containing hydrocodone (related to codeine), a narcotic analgesic, and acetaminophen, a less potent pain reliever that increases the effects of hydrocodone. example my doctor gave me some vikings for pain after my wisdom teeth were extracted.
- Generic name for early medieval (9th to 11th century) scandinavian shipbuilders, seafarers, warriors, pillagers, and settlers, who first terrorized and later colonized western europe, then voyaged westward to iceland, greenland and north america, and southward around iberia to north africa. other norsemen moved eastward to colonize the baltic shores, and some, known as the rus, moved south to settle in kiev and give their name to russia. others known as varangians traveled down that country’s great rivers to reach the black sea, constantinople, and probably baghdad. the name comes from old norse wik or vik, meaning a creek, bay, or estuary, and a naval raid was called “faro-i-viking” which can be loosely translated as “go-a-baying” (probably in reference to the viking raiders’ tendency to work their way inland via bays and rivers). see also berserker.

Vilifrying, английский
An insult so spectacularly appropriate and true that the subject is rendered speechless, usually resulting in the mouth opening and closing repeatedly, like a fish gasping for air. example when she said to james, how could you possibly catch the foul ball when you have no arms, stumpy? james was so vilifryed, he almost fainted.
