An ancient japanese fisherman’s legend tells of this archaic war junk that appears from nowhere, moving rapidly despite its lack of sails and halyards. the sight can be extremely dangerous, but the remedy is to steer head-on towards the junk. as soon as it is rammed, the apparition will disappear, but the waters will immediately be filled with struggling men crying for scoops with which to bail out the sea. the wise fisherman will only throw them dippers with holes in them, for if they are given proper scoops they will throw water into the fishers’ boat to sink it. z
