Switchmode

Глоссарий по экологии и "зеленой" энергетике
A form of converting one form of electricity to another by rapidly switching it on and off and feeding it through a transformer to effect a voltage change. many power supplies are switchmode devices and are typically more efficient, smaller and lighter than older style ferro-magnetic supplies. t tip-speed ratio: the ratio of blade tip speed to wind speed for a wind turbine.

Converting, английский
    Преобразование; конвертирование

Electricity, английский
  1. Электричество

  2. Energy resulting from the flow of charge particles, such as electrons or ions.

  3. The movement of electrons (a subatomic particle), produced by a voltage, through a conductor.

  4. Energy resulting from the flow of charged particles, such as electrons or ions.

  5. The fl ow of passing charge through a conductor, driven by a difference in voltage between the ends of the conductor. electrical power is generated by work from heat in a gas or steam turbine or from wind, oceans or falling water, or produced directly from sunlight using a photovoltaic device or chemically in a fuel cell. being a current, electricity cannot be stored and requires wires and cables for its transmission (see grid). because electric current fl ows immediately, the demand for electricity must be matched by production in real time.

Transformer, английский
  1. Static apparatus for supplying an alternating current at one voltage when fed with alternating current at a different voltage.

  2. Трансформатор; трансформировать, преобразовывать

  3. Преобразователь, трансформатор

  4. A device with two or more coupled windings, used to convert a supply of electric power at one voltage to another voltage.

  5. An electromagnetic device that changes the voltage of alternating current electricity.

  6. A device consisting of two or more insulated coils of wire wound around a magnetic material such as iron, used to convert one ac voltage to another or to electrically isolate individual circuits.

  7. An electronic component containing two magnetically coupled coils of wire. the input signal is transferred magnetically to the output, without a direct connection between input and output.

  8. An electromagnetic device that allows changes to the voltage level of alternating-current (ac) electricity.

Vorous, английский
    (l. voreare, to devour) eating or feeding on. carniv.: (l. carnum, meat) an animal that eats the flesh of other animals. detriv.: (l. detritus, decay) an organism that takes energy from dead or waste organic matter. herbiv.: (l. herbum, plant) an animal that consumes plants as food. omniv.: (l. omni, all) an animal that consumes both plant and animal matter as food.

Connection charging, английский
The charges associated with connecting a generator to the distribution or transmission network. these charges can be deep, wherein the generator must pay all costs of connection and reinforcement of the network to enable their connection, or they may be shallow, wherein the generator pays the costs only within the immediate area (or not at all). considerable variance may occur between these two extremes.
