|
The most widely quoted index for tracking the london stock market. the ftse 100 contains the shares of the top 100 uk companies. it is jointly sponsored by the financial times, the london stock exchange and the institute and faculty of actuaries and is marketed by a company called ftse international. during the day, the level of the ftse is re-calculated every minute. only the biggest companies are allowed in the ftse 100 and each quarter the list is re-evaluated, with some companies demoted and others promoted.
