- (от лат . accumulator - собиратель), устройство для накопления энергии с целью ее последующего использования. 1) электрический аккумулятор преобразует электрическую энергию в химическую и по мере надобности обеспечивает обратное преобразование; используют как автономный источник электроэнергии (напр., на транспорте). 2) гидравлический (пневматический) аккумулятор накапливает жидкость (газ), поступающую от насосов (компрессоров), и отдает ее в моменты наибольших расходов; используют для выравнивания давления или расхода жидкости (газа) в гидравлических и пневматических установках. 3) тепловой аккумулятор запасает тепло (напр., за счет повышения давления пара в котле), которое может быть израсходовано (с понижением давления) для покрытия пиков тепловой нагрузки. 4) инерционный аккумулятор преобразует работу внешних сил в кинетическую энергию с последующим ее использованием, наиболее часто в качестве такого аккумулятора применяют вращающийся маховик.
