Square pixel

Used to qualify a ccd sensor where the centers of the pixels are equally spaced horizontally and vertically. pictures captured from this type of non-square pixel sensor need to be software corrected in order to achieve the correct picture geometry.

Pixel, английский
  1. Derived from picture element. usually refers to the ccd chip unit picture cell. it consists of a photo sensor plus its associated control gates.

  2. A tiny picture element that contains red, green and blue information for color rendering on a monitor or a scanner. when generating colors, pixels are similar to dots of ink on paper. a monitor resolution description in terms of pixels per inch (ppi.) is

  3. A pixel refers to an individual area on the surface of the imaging device, normally a ccd. it is made from photosensitive material which converts light into electrical energy. in the context of a display monitor, a pixel is also referred to as an individual area on the surface of the screen which converts electrical energy to visible light.

  4. Short for picture element. a pixel is the smallest area of a television picture capable of being delineated by an electrical signal passed through the system of part thereof. the number of picture elements (pixels) in a complete picture, and their geometric characteristics of vertical height and horizontal width, provide information on the total amount of detail which the raster can display and on the sharpness of the detail, respectively.

  5. Picture element

  6. Picture element.

  7. The individual imaging element of a ccd or the individual output point of a display device. this is what is meant by the figures 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x960 and etc when dealing with the resolution of a particular digicam. higher numbers are always better!!

  8. The smallest controllable (addressable) picture element that can be illuminated on a display screen or printed page. closely related to resolution. .plan file a file that lists anything one wants others on the net to know about the person. it is placed in the home directory at the public-access site. then, anybody who fingers (see) you, will see this file. glossary/66

  9. Short for picture element, pixels are the tiny components that capture the digital image data recorded by your camera. pixels are also the individual components that collectively recreate the image captured with your digital camera on a computer monitor. the more pixels there are, the higher the screen or image resolution will be.

  10. The individual imaging element of a ccd or cmos sensor, or the individual output point of a display device. this is what is meant by the figures 640×480, 800×600, 1024×768, 1280×960 etc., when dealing with the resolution of a particular digicam. higher numbers are best.

  12. A pixel is the smallest unit in a computer representation of an image, or the smallest addressable unit in on computer screen. for example, a 640x480 image is 640 pixels wide by 480 pixels high. see also: voxel.

  13. (stands for picture element) pixels are square dots that represent the smallest units displayed on a computer screen. the standard macintosh monitor displays about 72 pixels per inch. characters or graphics are created by turning pixels on or off.

  14. Addressable point on the screen of a digital image. the image from a conventional computer is an array of pixels, each of which has a numerical value. the higher the number for a pixel, the brighter it is. formerly called picture element.

Pixel, английский

Pixel (picture element), английский

Pixel ., испанский

Pixel array,

Pixel aspect ratio, английский

  2. The ratio of a pixel’s width to its height. computer monitor pixels are square, and therefore have a pixel aspect ratio of 1:1.

Pixel cache,

Pixel centered coordinated mesh,

Pixel clock speed, английский

Pixel data format,

Pixel depth,

Pixel displacement,

Pixel format, английский
The size and arrangement of pixel color components. the format is specified by the total number of bits used per pixel and the number of bits used to store the red, green, blue, and alpha components of the color of the pixel.

Pixel graphics,

Pixel grid, английский

Pixel or picture element,

Pixel pairing, английский

Horizontally,

Horizontal, английский

  3. At right angles to the direction of gravity; on the level; parallel to the horizon; neither vertical nor inclined.

  4. A direction parallel to the horizon, or what is commonly termed lying flat. one of the greatest inconveniences navigators have to struggle with is the frequent want of a distinct sight of the horizon. to obviate this a horizontal spinning speculum was adopted by mr. lerson, who was lost in the victory man-of-war, in which ship he was sent out to make trial of his instrument. this was afterwards improved by smeaton, and consists of a well-polished metal speculum about 3-1/2 inches in diameter, inclosed within a circular rim of brass, so fitted that the centre of gravity of the whole shall fall near the point on which it spins. this is the end of a steel axis running through the centre of the speculum, above which it finishes in a square for the convenience of fitting a

Strobe synchronization, английский
This function is designed to capture fast moving, full frame images by firing a strobe light in a dark lighting condition. the camera synchronizes the timing of the external trigger and can output a full frame image. using an external frame memory synchronized with the input of external trigger signal, the write enable (wen) pulse is output. the use of the wen pulse allows for easy capture of full frame still images. this function requires a frame grabber board.

Slow shutter, английский
Shutter mode with an integration time longer than 1/50 s (pal) or 1/60 s (ntsc). like long-term integration, the slow shutter function increases camera sensitivity when shooting slow-moving or fixed subjects. unlike long-term integration, continuous normal video is output in slow shutter mode by use of a built-in video memory. the output picture is compatible with normal monitors and recorders.
