Hyperfocal distance

Глоссарий по фотографии
  1. The nearest point in the scene which is in focus when the lens is focused at infinity. this distance changes according to the focal length of the lens and the aperture at which it is set. setting a lens at its hyperfocal distance maximizes the depth of field when infinity must be kept sharp.

  2. Often used by landscape photographers, it is the focus distance providing the the maximum amount of depth of field. older prime lenses for film cameras usually had hyperfocal distance marks to aid in finding this magic sweet spot. with today’s lenses it is possible to calculate, just takes a bit more work and a hyperfocal distance calculator.
