- A procedure which involves taking a test sample of the amniotic fluid during pregnancy using a hollow needle and syringe comment: amniocentesis and amnioscopy, the examination and testing of the amniotic fluid, give information about possible congenital disorders in the fetus as well as the sex of the unborn baby.
