Parhelion or parhelia (plural)
|
A bright, colored portion of a solar halo which forms on points 22° either side of the sun and at the same elevation. these luminous spots are caused by the refraction of light by ice crystals. the terms mock sun and sun dog are also used to describe this optical phenomenon.
