    2. A group or series o f sedimentary rocks having some characteristic in common, specifically coal measures. the term apparently refers to the old practice of designating the different seams o f a coalfield by their “measure” or thickness.

    3. In climate policy, measures are technologies, processes or practices that reduce greenhouse gas emissions or impacts below anticipated future levels, for example renewable energy technologies, waste minimization processes, public transport commuting practices, etc. see also policies. merit order (of power plants): ranking of all available power generating units in an integrated power system, being the sequence of their short-run marginal cost per kwh starting with the cheapest for delivering electricity to the grid. millennium development goals (mdg): a set of eight time-bound and measurable goals for combating poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, discrimination against women and environmental degradation. these were agreed to at the un millennium summit in together with an action plan to reach these goals.
