    A usn term indicating the required condition of a warship relative to its immediate task. readiness covers a range of items, including availability and crewing of weapons, state of propulsion machinery, maximum speed available, closure of watertight doors or hatches, and many other considerations depending on which of the following six conditions has been declared. • condition i: requires the ship to be closed for combat, with all hands at general quarters (battle stations). sub-divisions of this condition apply during: (1-a) amphibious operations (1-aa) threat of air attack (1-as) submarine alert (1-m) minesweeping (1-e) a temporary lull in combat • condition ii: still on high alert, but specified combat stations may stand down to minimize fatigue and some watertight doors may be opened. • condition iii: general state of readiness with only selected weapon systems and combat stations crewed and ready. • condition iv: normal peacetime sea duties. most combat systems un-crewed. • condition v: normal peacetime harbor routines. • condition vi: relaxed condition at moorings with only minimal personnel on board for fire and security watch. ready about!: command ordering a sailing crew to stand by to move onto the opposite tack.
