Silicone, английский
- One of the family of polymeric materials in which the recurring chemical group contains silicon and oxygen atoms as links in the main chain; derived from silica and methyl chloride; characterized by resistance to heat and a low coefficient of thermal expansion. silicone-carbide paper a very tough, waterproof sandpaper, shiny black in color; esp. used in wet sanding and for fine work.
- One of a group of polymeric organic silicon compounds obtained as oils, greases, or plastics and applied to textile material as water- and heat-resistant lubricants and finishes.
- Silicone is known for providing a prettier look to formulas, preventing moisture from evaporating, and creating a blurring or smoothing effect on the skin. it`s the ingredient responsible for the slip` in complexion products, most often found in personal care products such as serums, primers, foundation, and moisturizers. dimethicone, an oil-free silicone, is one of the most common. silicones are not necessarily a bad thing, but not all skin types sit well with them. some studies have also shown that silicone can worsen acne-prone skin concerns, trap bacteria in pores, and interfere with cell renewal.
- A category of base stocks with three subcategories: dimethyl silicones resist moisture and some chemicals and are ideal for low loads and low speeds. phyenylmethyl silicones resist moisture, oxidation and corrosion, and they are ideal for low-to-moderate loads and moderate-to-high speeds. fluorosilicones, typically used in harsh chemical and solvent environments, are ideal for moderate-to-high loads and moderate-to-high speeds.
