The controlling of the atmosphere within a container (in addition to temperature control) to prolong the storage life of goods, usually fruit or horticultural produce.
An atmosphere circulated through, or contained in, a muffle furnace or other heating unit, the oxygen content of which is regulated or adjusted to a level low enough to prevent oxidation of diamonds during the sintering stage of producing a diamond bit by a powder-metal process.
