- Октановое число. число на условной шкале, характеризующее устойчивость к детонации топлива для двигателей с искровым зажиганием. определяется на опытных двигателях путем сравнения со стандартными видами топлива. существует несколько различных методов испытаний, поэтому указание октанового числа должно сопровождаться ссылкой на использованный метод (мос, 4). происхождение термина связано с использованием 2,2,4-триметилпентана (изооктана) в качестве стандартного топлива, октановое число которого считается равным 100 (в отличие от 0 для гептана) .
