Event stratigraphy, английский
The use o f inferred geological events rather than the intrinsic petrological characters o f the rocks, or their contained fossils, for correlation (ager, 1973, p. 63). numerous subsequent authors have defined event stratigraphy as the organization, classification, and correlation o f the earth’s rocks on the basis of short-term phenomena—explosive volcanism, rapid tectonic movements, abrupt changes o f sea level, climatic cycles, storms, distinctive sedimentologic and biologic events, and even extraterrestrial or other “rare events” at any scale.
Stratigraphic terminology, английский
