Глоссарий авиационных терминов
    (1) of the three axes in flight, this specifies the vertical action, the up-and-down movement. compare roll and yaw. (2) the angle of a propeller or rotor blade in relation to its arc; also the distance advanced by a blade in one full rotation.

Pic, английский

Pitot tube, английский
  1. More accurately but less popularly used, pitot-static tube, a small tube most often mounted on the outward leading edge of an airplane wing (out of the propeller stream) that measures the impact pressure of the air it meets in flight, working in conjuctio

  2. A device, used in conjunction with a suitable manometer or other pressure-reading instrument, for measuring the velocity of air in a duct or water in a pipe. pit-run gravel, bank-run gravel ungraded gravel as it is taken directly from a gravel pit.

  3. Трубка пито

  4. An instrument widely used to measure the speed of aircraft that has also been installed on ships. projecting through the bottom of the hull, a co-axial tube is bent at right angles to point forward in the direction of motion. the inner tube is open at its forward end to record dynamic pressure, which is proportional to speed through the water; while the outer one has holes in its side to record static pressure, which depends on the depth and density of the water. when the vessel is stationary, the two pressures are equal, but when it moves dynamic pressure becomes greater, the difference varying with the square of the ship’s speed which can be calculated by bernouilli’s equation. this concept for measuring rates of fluid flow was postulated by french hydraulic engineer henri pitot in 1732 and developed into a practical device in 1858 by henry darcy, another member of the french corps of roads and bridges.

  5. A pitot tube is a measuring instrument used to measure fluid flow, and more specifically, used to determine airspeed on aircraft. the pitot tube is named after its inventor, henri pitot, and was modified to its modern form by henry darcy.

  6. Трубка пито. трубка, один конец которой открыт и расположен перпендикулярно потоку жидкости с целью определения динамического давления этого потока. скорость потока можно определить по разности между динамическим и статическим давлением (вмо).

Pilot in command, английский
The pilot responsible for the operation and safety of an aircraft during flight time.
