Semaphore signal

Displays signals by a coloured arm during daylight and by coloured lights at night.

Semaphore, английский
  1. Семафор

  2. An expeditious mode of communication by signal; it consists of upright posts and movable arms, now chiefly used for railway signals, electric telegraphs being found better for great distances.

  3. A signaling system in which a pair of hand-held flags or lever-operated wooden arms are placed in various positions to indicate numbers and letters of the alphabet. the intention to send a message by semaphore is signaled to the receiver by the triple flag hoist “yz1” or at close range by the semaphore letter “j” (left hand out to the side and right hand above the head, forming a right angle).

  4. In programming, a signal—a flag variable—used to govern access to shared system resources. a semaphore indicates to other potential users that a file or other resource is in use and prevents access by more than one user.

Semaphore indicator, английский
Vehicle direction indicator consisting of an arm on the side of the vehicle that can be manually or automatically raised and lowered. see trafficator. semi

Semaphore signals, английский
Signals usually worked mechanically by wire from a signal box’s lever frame, but can be electrically operated; these are mechanical arms rather than coloured lights.

Signal, английский
  1. A signal is used to help make sure of the safe operation of traffic and to regulate train and shunting movements.

  2. (сигнал) термин технического анализа; индикация момента, когда пришло время покупать (продавать), согласно выработанной трейдером торговой стратегии;

  3. Сигнал

  4. Strength, interference, noise, propagation, frequency of fading, modulation, overall (rating) уровень [сила] сигнала, - помехи, шум, прохождение, частота замирания, глубина модуляции, общая разборчивость

  5. Strength, interference, noise, propagation, overall (readability) уровень [сила] сигнала, помехи, шум, прохождение, общая разборчивость

  6. Kit/ mk-79 комплект приборов для сигнализации

  7. С и гнал

  8. N сигнал structural ~ структурный сигнал

  9. [1] a short message conveyed by flags, light flashes, electrical impulses, sound or radio waves, or other means. (see tables 8–10). [2] to send such a message.

  10. Сигнал ~s of danger сигналы опасности (визуальные, световые, звуковые)

  11. A varying electrical voltage that represents sound.

  12. A beep or tone from a computer’s speaker or a prompt displayed on screen that tells a user that the computer is ready to receive input.

  13. A notification of an event that triggers an activity.

  14. To convey information through a firm`s actions. the more costly it is to provide a signal, the more credibility it has. for example, to call a press conference and tell everyone that the firm`s prospects have improved is less effective than saying the same thing and raising the dividend.

  15. Physical quantity, such as voltage, that contains relevant information.

  16. Physical quantity, such as voltage, that contains relevant information.4

  17. Physical quantity, such as voltage, that contains relevant information. signal-to-noise ratio: ratio of signal values (responses that contain relevant information) to baseline noise values (responses that contain nonrelevant information).

  18. Physical quantity, such as luminance, that contains a relevant test indication or information. signal-to-noise ratio: ratio of signal values (responses that contain relevant information) to baseline noise values (responses that contain nonrelevant information). see also background. glossary s 513

  19. Physical quantity, such as voltage, that contains relevant information.4 signal-to-noise ratio: ratio of signal values (responses that contain relevant information) to baseline noise values (responses that contain nonrelevant information).4

  20. Physical quantity, such as electrical voltage, that contains information.10,20 signal-to-noise ratio: ratio of signal amplitude (responses that contain information) to baseline noise amplitude (responses that contain no information). see also noise.10,20
