Pulse modulation

A method akin to digital modulation where the intensity of a carrier is modulated between two states, either maximum or zero. if the pulse width is small and the repetition rate slow, the peak power in the pulse can be vastly above that of the mean power. for instance, if a pulse of 1 nanosecond (10-9 sec) duration is transmitted every second, then the peak power is 1 billion times or 109 (90 db) above the mean power. it is very easy for this "lighthouse" laser beacon to outshine a star during each brief flash. during each flash, the rate at which photons arrive at the receiver is much higher than from the stellar or sky backgrounds. for the example given, this ratio can be as high as 10 million times.

Modulated carrier, английский

Modulated carrier reticle, английский

Modulated continuous waves,

Modulated laser, английский
A laser module that allows users to control output power by varying a control voltage, which turns the laser on and off

Modulated vector network analyzer, английский

Modulating, английский

Modulating control valve, английский

Modulating frequency, английский

Modulating furnaces, английский
Furnaces are designed to deliver maximum heat for comfort on the coldest of days. in most cases, those days account for fewer than three percent of winter days. the rest of the time, your furnace is providing more heat than necessary. because conventional

Modulatio [onis, f], латинский

Modulation, английский

  3. The process, or results of the process, whereby some characteristic of one signal is varied in accordance with another signal. the modulated signal is called the carrier. the carrier may be modulated in three fundamental ways: by varying the amplitude, called amplitude modulation; by varying the frequency, called frequency modulation; by varying the phase, called phase modulation.

  4. The process by which some characteristic (i.e., amplitude, phase) of one rf wave is

  5. The process by which some characteristic (i.e., amplitude, phase) of one rf wave is varied in accordance with another wave (message signal).

  6. The coding of information onto a carrier frequency. may use amplitude, frequency, phase, or time, plus many forms of on/off digital coding

  7. The ability to superimpose an external signal on the output beam of the laser as a control.

  8. The process by which the characteristic of one wave (the carrier) modifies another wave (the signal). examples include amplitude modulation (am), frequency modulation (fm), and pulse-coded modulation (pcm).

  9. N модуляция modul|e

Modulation, английский

Modulation analysis, английский

Modulation analysis (et), английский
An instrumentation method used in eddy current testing which separates responses based on their frequency or rate of response. for instance, slow responses from gradual dimension changes can be separated from rapid responses from a crack.

Repetition, английский

  4. An instance of a cycle in a multiple cycle series.

Nanosecond, английский
  1. One billionth of a second. longer than a picosecond or femtosecond, but shorter than a microsecond. associated with q-switched lasers.

  2. A unit of measurement of time equal to one thousand millionth of a second. symbol ns

  3. A billionth of a second. light travels about a foot in a vacuum in a nanosecond nest - nesting is an important feature of most computer programs and languages. to nest a piece of code in another piece of code is to use the rst code as a integral block of function in the second piece of code. for example we could nest a for statement in the body of another for statement.

  4. Наносекунда, ns

  5. (10-9) one billionth of a second.

Lighthouse, английский

  5. A sort of tower, erected upon a headland, islet, or rock, whose lights may be seen at a great distance from the land to warn shipping of their approach to these dangers.—a floating light, or light vessel, strongly moored, is used to mark dangers under water. lights are variously distinguished, as by the number, colour, and continuity of their lights, whether flashing, revolving, &c.

  6. [1] popular name for an onshore tower or other structure displaying a light or lights for the guidance of mariners and to warn of maritime hazards. previously attended but now usually automated. [2] the shipboard housing for a port or starboard navigation light.
