Yacht ensigns, английский
While in foreign waters and on the high seas united states yachts fly the national flag. in home waters they may wear that flag defaced by a fouled anchor in a ring of 13 stars. when this is dipped to usn vessels, they will acknowledge and return the salute. british practice is more complex. members of the royal yacht squadron are entitled to fly the white ensign, while the vessels of specified yacht clubs may wear the blue ensign, either plain or defaced with an emblem. rn vessels will always acknowledge and return the salute of these flags. other yacht clubs may be authorized to fly the red ensign with a defacing badge or emblem, while any citizen may fly the undefaced red ensign. the rn is not required to, but normally will, respond to the dip of any red ensign.
