- Angular fragments of material, commonly formed by physical weathering processes or explosive volcanic activity.
- Any stone composed of angular fragments embedded and consolidated in a finer ground. numerous marbles owe their distinctive appearance to brecciation.
- A coarse-grained rock of sedimentary or igneous origin that is composed of angular rock fragments held to- gether by a mineral cement or fine-grained matrix.
- Any rock formation essentially composed of uncemented, or loosely consolidated, small angular-shaped fragments. compare broken ground.
- A fragmental rock whose components are angular and therefore not waterworn. there are friction or fault breccias, talus breccias, and eruptive breccias. compare conglomerate.
- A coarse-grained, clastic rock composed of angular rock fragments (larger than 2 mm) commonly bonded by a mineral cement in a finer-grained matrix of varying composition and origin. the consolidated equivalent of rubble. compare - conglomerate. gsst
