Interval attribute

Глоссарий по искусственному интеллекту
An interval valued attribute uses numeric values for which the relative differences are meaningful whose meaning would not be changed if the values were translated or multiplied by a positive constant. the zero in these scales is arbitrary. a familiar example would be temperature in degrees celsius. the difference between 20 and 30 is twice as large as the difference between 20 and 25, but the 30-degree temperature is not 50 percent larger than the 20-degree temperature. the zero value in this scale is arbitrary. this level of attribute supports the same operations as do ordinal and nominal value attributes as well as sums and differences. scale and origin dependent operations, such as multiplication and exponentiation, do not have an intrinsic meaning for these type of attributes. see also: machine learning, nominal (attribute type), ordinal attribute, ratio attribute.

Attribute, английский
  1. A characterisitic of an action or production stage in information processing, such as a kiln number or a log grade.

  2. Distinguishing characteristic of a sensation, perception or mode of appearance. colors are often described by their attributes of hue, saturation or chroma, and lightness.

  3. Атрибут

  4. N атрибут, определение (член предложения )

  5. A (usually) named quantity that can take on different values. these values are the attribute`s domain and, in general, can be either quantitative or qualitative, although it can include other objects, such as an image. its meaning is often interchangable with the statistical term "variable." the value of an attribute is also referred to as its feature. numerically valued attributes are often classified as being nominal, ordinal, integer, or ratio valued, as well as discrete or continuous. attribute-based learning attribute-based learing is a generic label for machine learning techniques such as classification and regression trees, neural networks, regression models, and related or derivative techniques. all these techniques learn based on values of attributes, but do not specify relations between objects parts. an alternate approach, which focuses on learning relationships, is known as inductive logic programming. see also: inductive logic programming, logic programming.

  6. A characteristic of an object.

  7. A descriptive declaration that can be applied to programming elements such as types, fields, methods, and properties.

  8. A single characteristic or additional piece of information (financial or nonfinancial) that exists in a database.

  9. For files, information that indicates whether a file is read-only, hidden, ready for archiving (backing up), compressed, or encrypted, and whether the file contents should be indexed for fast file searching.

  10. In a computing system, an inherent characteristic of the hardware and software of a windows computer. such characteristics can be enumerated, but do not need to be measured. examples are memory (ram) and storage size.

  11. In markup languages such as sgml, html, and xml, a name-value pair within a tagged element that describes data or the formatting or properties of data associated with that element.

  12. In screen displays, an element of additional information stored with each character in the video buffer of a video adapter running in character mode. such attributes control the background and foreground colors of the character, underlining, and blinking.

  13. The name or structure of a field in a database entity. for example, the lastname, firstname, and phone are attributes of each record in a phonelist entity. the size of a field and the type of information it contains are also attributes of a database record.
