- The hollow stem of a large bird’s feather, formerly used [1] as a pen, when sharpened to a point. [2] as the firing tube of a ship’s cannon. quill-pusher: formerly, a slang term for the captain’s clerk. also quill-driver. quilting:matting used to protect a vessel from ice damage.
- A sleeve-shaped bushing fitting around and splined or keyed to the drive rod or screw in a drill swivel head. it transmits power received from the drill motor to the drive rod and causes the drive rod to be rotated.
