Island, английский

  2. The superstructure of an aircraft carrier that extends above the flight deck. a carrier that lacks one is said to be flush-decked.

  3. In the design of a parking lot (car park), a raised area having a curb, so located to separate traffic lanes and/or to guide traffic. island-base kitchen cabinet a free-standing kitchen cabinet placed below a counter or work surface; the ends of the cabinet are exposed. iso abbr. for international standards organization.

  4. Изолированный участок

  5. May be simply described as a tract of land entirely surrounded with water; but the whole continuous land of the old world forms one island, and the new world another; while canals across the isthmuses of suez and panama would make each into two. the term properly only applies to smaller portions of land; and australia, madagascar, borneo, and britain are among the larger examples. their materials and form are equally various, and so is their origin; some having evidently been upheaved by volcanic eruption, others are the result of accretion, and still more revealing by their strata that they were formerly attached to a neighbouring land. the sudden emergence of sabrina, in the atlantic, has occasioned wonder in our own day. so has that of graham`s island, near the south coast of sicily; and the archipelago is daily at work.

  6. [1] a tract of land completely surrounded by water at high tide. [2] the superstructure of an aircraft carrier, rising above the flight deck and enclosing the command and flag bridges, primary flight control, radars, and similar equipment. the island is off to one side of the flight deck so that the takeoff and landing runways remain clear. starboard was originally chosen because the torque of propeller-driven engines tended to pull aircraft to port. later it became customary, but the japanese briefly experimented with islands on the left of carriers expected to, operate in concert with standard right-island ships. no advantages were discovered.

  7. Изолированный участок; "остров"

  8. Взаимодействующая группа узлов подмножество узлов сети, которые могут связываться между собой напр., посредством канала произвольного доступа -4 2 - 5 5. isn priority scheme cm. priority plus segmented fifo scheme

  9. (a) an area of land completely surrounded by water. compare - barrier island, coral island. (b) an elevated area of land surrounded by swamp, or marsh, or isolated at high water or during floods. compare - barrier island. gg

  10. Область, ограниченная замкнутым контуром штриховки и расположенная внутри другого замкнутого контура.
