A valve designed to control the flow of steam, water, gas, or other fluids, by means of a variable orifice which is positioned by an operator in response to signals from a sensor or controller. automatic door 1. a power-operated door that closes when subject to an abnormally high aureole ambient temperature, an unusual rate of temperature rise, or an abnormal smoke condition. 2.a power-operated door that opens when a person or automobile approaches.
