- Широкое воронкообразное устье реки при впадении ее в море.
- (от лат . aestuarium - затопляемое устье реки), однорукавное воронкообразное устье реки, расширяющееся в сторону моря.
- Воронкообразный залив, образовавшийся в результате затопления и расширения устья крупной реки при совместном воздействии на его берег абразии и приливно-отливных течений. в отличие от лиманов не перегораживаются пересыпями и встречаются в приливных морях.
