A hoistway for more than a single elevator or dumbwaiter. multiple-layer adhesive a film-type adhesive inserted between dissimilar materials in order to bond them together; often a different type of adhesive is used on each side of the film. multiple-layer weld a weld in which more than one pass or deposit of filler metal is required to obtain the required dimensions of the weld.
