- 1. a yellow watery liquid which makes up the main part of blood 2. lymph with no corpuscles 3. cytoplasm comment: if blood does not clot it separates into blood corpuscles and plasma, which is formed of water and proteins, including the clotting agent fibrinogen. if blood clots, the corpuscles separate from serum, which is a watery liquid similar to plasma, but not containing fibrinogen. dried plasma can be kept for a long time, and is used, after water has been added, for transfusions.
