An algorithm for machine learning which starts with no prior knowledge of the subject matter other than the basic mechanisms for learning from input. although the addition of prior knowledge can speed up and otherwise improve the learning capability of an algorithm, tabula rasa methods have been quite successful and are generally easy to implement and test. see also: machine learning.
