Tread [geomorphology]

Глоссарий геологических терминов
A geomorphic component of terraces, flood-plain steps, and other stepped landforms consisting of the flat to gently sloping, topmost and laterally extensive slope. commonly a recurring part of a series of natural, step-like landforms such as successive stream terraces. it’s characteristic shape and alluvial sediment composition is derived from the cut and fill processes of a fluvial system.

Tread, английский
  1. The region of a tire designed to contact the ground. it is molded of tough rubber for high traction and low wear.

  2. The horizontal platform of a stair.

  3. The walking surface board in a stairway on which the foot is placed.

  4. The horizontal surface of a step; often has a rounded edge that extends beyond the upright face of the riser below it.

  5. Травма, возникающая в результате удара одной ноги лошади о другую

  6. The pattern molded into area of the tire that contacts the road. the tread patterns is designed to increase traction based on the tire’s intended use.

Tread brake, английский
    See brakes page

Tread contact length, английский
Length of a tire contact patch or footprint, usually measured in the wheel plane. see also tread contact width.

Tread contact width, английский
Distance between the extreme edges of tire

Tread contour, английский
Cross sectional shape of the tread surface of an inflated unloaded tire neglecting tread pattern depressions,

Tread depth, английский
Distance between the base of a tire tread groove and a line tangential to (or in simple measurements joining) the surface of two adjacent tread ribs or rows,

Tread design; pattern, английский

Tread length, английский
The dimension of a tread measured perpendicular to the normal line of travel on a stair.

Tread noise, английский
Noise produced by the interaction of tire tread pattern and the road surface, though excepting squeal and slap,

Tread of a ship or keel, английский
    The length of her keel.

Tread pattern, английский
The arrangement of blocks, grooves, sipes, and channels designed into the tread to enhance its grip. also called the tread design.

Tread plate, английский
A floor plate which is fabricated of metal, e.g., aluminum.

Tread return, английский
In an open stair, the continuation of the horizontal rounded edge of the tread, beyond the stair stringer. tredyl 1013 tread return

Tread run, английский
The horizontal distance between two consecutive risers or, on an open-riser stair, the horizontal distance between nosings or the outer edges of successive treads, all measured perpendicular to the front edges of the nosings or treads.

Tread tractor, английский

Tread void, английский
Areas in the tread, such as grooves and channels, that permit water to drain away from the footprint.

Tread water, to, английский
The practice in swimming by which the body is sustained upright, and the head kept above the surface.

Tread width, английский
The dimension of a tread (measured along the normal line of travel of the stair) plus the projection of the nosing, if any.

  3. The arrangement of subject matter, graphic elements, tones, and light in a scene. can be harmonious or discordant, depending on the photographer, his or her mood, and the subject at hand. there are no set rules, just suggestions; successful compositions are ones that best express particular feelings about the subject or scene.

  5. A composition is a function or relationship that can be constructed from other functions or relationships. for example, the function grandparent(x) is a recursive composition of the parent() function, grandparent(x) = parent(parent(x)). compositional rule of inference (cri) see: fuzzy associative memory. computer-aided design (cad) the process of using a computer to aid in the design and (cadcam) manufacture of objects or systems. the complexity of these systems range from basic drawing systems through systems that can warn you about basic dimensional constraints to systems that understand and implement constraints based on other properties of the objects in the system. it is used for the design of mechanical, electronic, construction, and other systems. computer-aided education the use of computers to aid in the education of personnel. computer-aided instruction, intelligent see: intelligent computer-aided instruction. computer integrated manufacturing (cim) computer integrated manufacturing refers to the integration of computer sensors and controllers into a manufacturing process. this includes three types of functions. first the computers provide programmable and flexible automation of the manufacturing process. this leads to the ability to optimize the process flexibly to react to current variations in the process. finally, the various sensors and controllers can be integrated into a comprehensive system.
