- Искровой разряд в атмосфере, который проявляется обычно яркой вспышкой света и сопровождается громом. возникает в кучево-дождевых облаках. при этом молнии могут возникать в самих облаках или между облаками и землей. наиболее типичная молния – линейная. она представляет собой искру длиной 1–10 км с разветвлениями, диаметром несколько сантиметров. вспышка длится 0,01–0,1 с, температура превышает 25000 °c. часто происходит несколько повторных разрядов по одному и тому же каналу, при этом общая продолжительность вспышки может достигать 1 с и более. шаровая молния имеет сферическую форму, диаметр 10–50 см, движется медленно, может существовать одну-две минуты, после чего исчезает со взрывом или без взрыва. плоская молния представляет собой электрический разряд на поверхности облака, не имеет линейного характера. черточная молния – разряд в виде цепочки отдельных точек и черточек. огни святого эльма – коронный разряд, свечение концов острых предметов (антенн, мачт, шпилей) в сильно наэлектризованном воздухе. обычно наблюдаются непосредственно перед грозой или во время грозы.
