Horizontal displacement of video information in bands of approximately 16 lines per field producing a sawtooth effect which is most apparent on vertical picture detail of a television picture originating from the playback of a video tape recording.

- The centre of gravity of the displacement relates to the part of the ship under water, considered as homogeneous. the weight of water which a vessel displaces when floating is the same as the weight of the ship. (see centre of cavity.)
